Introvert, Extrovert?
As a true 50/50 introvert/extrovert, I’ve learned there’s value in pushing myself to show up. I was recently in Houston attending the Academy Sports Broker Summit with Greg Guyuron from my office. It was our second time attending, and events like this are rare in retail. Getting everyone in one place creates connections that just don’t happen over Zoom or email.
When I travel, I make the most of the trip by connecting with clients and friends. One highlight was finally meeting Jeff Hayes’ team from Palo Duro Commercial Partners in person, after knowing Jeff professionally for years. I also enjoyed catching up with Jim Lampassi, SVP of Real Estate and Construction at Academy Sports + Outdoors, one of the most respected veterans in the industry. I’m pictured with Jim below.
Along with my business relationships, I’m also intentional with connecting with friends at least monthly. They are grounded women of faith who are a pleasure to be around. This month, I invited my cousin and friends to a Cleveland Guardians baseball game. We had a great time in our lounge-level box positioned behind the batter.

Overthinker?
Are you an overthinker? I once was. The old me would have talked myself out of attending the summit and reaching out to friends because I was “too busy.”
Maybe you’ve felt the hesitation to RSVP, make the call, reach out, or put yourself in the room. It’s easy to convince ourselves we’re too busy, too tired, or that it won’t matter anyway. More often than not, though, the things we almost talked ourselves out of end up being the things we’re most grateful we did.
One of the lessons from my book Intuitive Certainty is that the right decisions often become clear when we stop overanalyzing and start trusting the nudges that tell us to say yes to what matters.
