Last week, I shared how Florence Scovel Shinn’s books helped me put faith into practice by acting on the guidance I sensed and leaving the outcome with God.
That connection between faith and action came to mind again as I read Dan Martell’s Buy Back Your Time while writing the final chapter of Intuitive Certainty, “The World Changed When I Did.”
After teenage years that included an arrest and incarceration, Martell chose to change his life. He became a successful entrepreneur and business coach, but his transformation also changed the childhood his two sons would have. His past would no longer determine what he passed on to them.
That’s why breaking harmful patterns matters. The work we do within ourselves affects how we treat people and what we teach our children through our example. With God’s help, each different choice becomes practice for living the change we want to see.
That influence extends into our workplaces. In Give and Take, Adam Grant explores how generosity contributes to success. I’ve experienced it through my Whos, the people meant to walk parts of my journey with me. Their generosity has helped me grow and encouraged me to help others.
These books reinforced something my intuition has taught me: changing ourselves changes what we contribute to the lives around us. As I wrote in that final chapter, “Legacy isn’t what you leave behind. It’s what you activate while you’re here.”
